Not only is this piece visually interesting but also if seen in person it becomes a unique experience. Accompanying the suspended fragments that once was a garden shed is a single bright white light placed in the middle, working with the architecture of the room this creates beautiful and complex shadows that distort and bring live into this free frame explosion. Using something as mundane as a garden shed for a piece like this further develops the level of interest as it has now become something fill of life and emotion. Due to the connotations associated with an explosion the name 'Cold Dark Matter' seemed perfect to Cornelia as she felt the title sounded like some sort of psychological state and her piece conveying a depressing, dark atmosphere. wooden typographic sculpture of the typeface Avant Garde (entitled Avantgarde) by artist Damien Roach.
The reason I really like this piece is that at first glance it looks like a mess of shapes and extremely confusing but once in the correct position you are able to see the piece for what it is.
